ACCJ Advocacy Efforts Align with Keidanren Vaccine Passport Proposal

“We welcome any proposal to re-open Japan’s borders to business travel, as part of a science-based approach to preserving public health. Many of Japan’s top economic partners permit vaccinated travelers from overseas to enter without quarantine, and require a 10-day quarantine for unvaccinated travelers rather than the 14 days currently mandated by Japan. It is reasonable that Japan adopt the same policy. In doing so, Japan should accept recognized vaccination and other health documentation issued overseas, including one or more of the digital documentation systems most broadly accepted among Japan’s major partners, including the SMART Health Card system in the U.S., as well as those proposed by IATA, the Commons Project, or others. Re-starting business travel is essential for the recovery of the Japanese and global economies from the damage of the pandemic.” — ACCJ Special Advisor Christopher LaFleur
